Boyd H. McGathey serves as Chief Operating Officer for Liberty Propane. Mr. McGathey brings extensive experience and knowledge in strategic business development, acquisition integration, financial management, retail operations and sales management.

During a brief absence from the propane industry, Mr. McGathey worked with ADT Security Services, a Tyco International LTD company. Responsibility included oversight of two major Midwest operations with EBIT in excess of $28 million, and gross revenues over $55 million. ADT sought Mr. McGathey’s talents to lead key business units in the Midwest, and McGathey succeeded by obtaining the FY04 Club Excellence and FY04 TYCO Circle of Management Excellence awards.

Mr. McGathey served as Vice President-Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for a national retail propane company where he launched his career in the industry in 1989. During his tenure, McGathey played an integral part in field operations in roles such as District Manager, Area Manager and Region Vice President. Major accomplishments included: development of a new field operating model to better service customers and reduce operating expenses. As Chief Operating Officer, McGathey was responsible for over 300 retail operations throughout the Eastern United States. As Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, McGathey was responsible for most of the headquarters functions and oversaw a $17 million annual budget. He also created and executed a new information technologies plan, and launched a company-wide Intranet program with an estimated annual savings of over $1 million. In these various roles, McGathey gained extensive background knowledge in operational excellence, marketing, communications, human resources, organizational development, information technology and safety and technical operations.

Prior to 2001, Mr. McGathey has been an active participant in the propane industry as a member of the Iowa and Illinois Propane Gas Associations, NPGA Safety Committee, World LPG Association and PERC Council.

Mr. McGathey currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers, and is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
